Established in 1959, Colorman is one of Europe’s leading full service print and packaging companies. The business has clients in Ireland, UK, Europe, and America. Using modern technology and e-procurement, print management solutions are delivered to customers, tailor made to suit their requirements.
Starting as a silk screen printing company, there is now a large suite of lithographic presses, book binding, carton manufacturing, secure printing and digital print facilities.
The main objectives was to reduce the print excess and to establish a one system quote to delivery. Another project objective was to establish a structured corrective approach for reprints and complaints with a view to applying root cause analysis and improving standardised procedures.
The key challenges were identified as follows:
Key changes were implemented to improve communication within the company. A monthly Steering Committee was set up to review KPIs, project progress, identify bottlenecks and implement the necessary changes.
As a result of completing this course, Colorman reported a number of results. The excess print has been reduced. The labour recovery is now measured and presents a huge opportunity for the business. One System quote to delivery requires ownership and leadership to make this happen.
A structured corrective approach for reprints and complaints has standardised procedures and should yield better results.
